Safe Sitter® is a medically accurate program that teaches young adolescents how to handle emergencies when caring for children or staying home alone. The program is designed for young adults in 4 - 8 grades who will babysit or stay home alone. These classes teach safe and nurturing childcare techniques, behavior management skills, and appropriate responses to medical emergencies. Students learn life-saving skills, such as how to rescue someone choking, and helpful information, like what to do if there’s severe weather. Click here for more information on Safe Sitter.
Safe Sitter® Essentials with CPR
This class prepares students in grades 6-8 to be safe when they’re home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting. Students learn life-saving skills, such as how to rescue someone who’s choking and helpful information, like what to do if there’s severe weather.
*Students will need to bring a sack lunch with them to class. Parents are asked to arrive 15 minutes before class ends to attend the Safe Sitter Graduation Ceremony.

Safe@ Home
Safe@Home by Safe Sitter is a 90-minute class designed to prepare students in grades 4-6 to be safe when they're home alone. Registration is required to attend in-person or remote classes.

Min/Max: 5/20 students
2023 Spring Class Schedule
Classes require a minimum of 5 participants to run the course by the registration deadline.
Class placement is on a first-come, first-serve basis. A waitlist will become available if the class fills before the deadline. Please contact Fire & Life Safety Educator Rebecca Scanlon to be added to the waitlist at publiceducation@rpfpd.org.

HOW TO REGISTER
In-Person or by Mail: Download and fill out the registration form. Bring the completed registration form and the non-refundable payment by the registration deadline to the Roberts Park Fire Protection District Station 1, Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4 PM. Cash or Check is accepted for in-person registration. Checks should be payable to 'Roberts Park Fire Protection District' with the student's name in the memo area. Phone calls for pre-registration will also not be accepted.
PAYMENT OPTIONS
Payment must be received one week prior to the course date. The course fee is NON-REFUNDABLE after the course deadline.
In-Person: Cash or Check only during normal business hours, Monday - Friday, 8:30 am-4:30 pm. Payment must be received before your class.
Mail: Make check payable to 'Roberts Park Fire Protection District' with the student's name in the memo area. Mailing address: Roberts Park FPD, Attn: Pub Ed, 8611 S Roberts Rd Justice, IL 60458.
REFUNDS AND COURSE CANCELLATION POLICY
The course fee is NON-REFUNDABLE after the course deadline.
A minimum of 5 registered students is required to run a course before the deadline. If the class is canceled due to low enrollment, a refund will be issued, or the student’s registration fee can be transferred to the next course date.
