Area Resources for Seniors
At Roberts Park Fire Protection District, we’re committed to helping older adults in our community stay safe, healthy, and independent for as long as possible. Through partnerships, in-house programs, and ongoing outreach, we offer a variety of resources specifically for seniors and disabled adults living in our district.
Home Safety Surveys
Roberts Park firefighters offer free home safety surveys to identify potential fall or fire hazards in the home. During the visit, our team can provide tips on fall prevention, escape planning, and overall home safety — all designed to help residents stay safely in their homes longer.
Free Smoke Alarm Installation
We provide free smoke alarm installations for homeowners living within the District. Ensuring every home has working smoke alarms is a key part of our fire prevention strategy. If you or a loved one needs a smoke alarm, call 708-598-6752 ext. 8214 to schedule an installation.
Senior Risk Reduction Program
Join us on the 4th Tuesday of every month at 10:00 AM at Fire Station 1 (8611 S. Roberts Rd, Justice, IL) for our Senior Risk Reduction Meeting. Each month we cover a new topic geared toward senior health, safety, and independence — from scam prevention and emergency preparedness to mobility aids and local resources. Light refreshments and plenty of time for questions included!
Community Partnerships
We work closely with Aging Care Connections and Pathlights — two outstanding organizations offering services to adults 60+ and disabled adults 18+:
Aging Care Connections
Aging Care Connections provides case management, transportation, home-delivered meals, caregiver support, benefits assistance, and more. If you or someone you know could benefit from these services, we can help make the connection. Learn more at agingcareconnections.org
Pathlights
Pathlights offers supportive services like in-home care coordination, assistance for caregivers, legal advocacy, and help with hoarding situations, memory care, and more. Visit pathlights.org for more information or reach out through our department for help making a referral.
Need help or want to refer someone?
If our crews encounter someone on a call who might benefit from these resources — such as fall concerns, hoarding, unmet needs, or lack of support — we will help connect them. Referrals can also be made by emailing basic details (name, address, phone, run number if applicable, and brief summary) to our Community Risk Reduction team.
Together, we’re working to keep our community strong, supported, and safe.
